Little late…but here it is
Here’s some highlights from Day 4 in Belle Glade.
Day 1: WAKE UP
Theme verse of the day: “Awake, O sleeper, rise up from the dead, and Christ will give you light.” Ephesians 5:14
Pastor Kevin shared how other people notice when we awake to the things of God, and he challenged the students to not let Belle Glade 2013 just be another fun week, but a new awakening in their lives.
Day 2: WAKE UP AND SERVE
Theme verse of the day: “And the Lord came and called as before, ‘Samuel, Samuel,’ and Samuel replied, ‘Speak, your servant is listening.’” 1 Samuel 3:10
Today we talked about what we need to give up and where we could step up to serve!
Pastor Brandon reminded the students that Christ came to serve, not be served and if we are going to have a Christ-like attitude- we need serve the same way.
Later that night, Pastor Ryan taught from 1 Samuel on how God uses young people to change the world. He told the kids- it doesn’t matter how old you are, we can all hear the voice of God, but only YOU can decide if you’re going to listen and respond.
Day 3: WAKE UP AND PRAY
Theme verse of the day: “While Jesus was still speaking, some people came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue leader. ‘Your daughter is dead,’ they said. ‘Why bother the teacher anymore?’ Ignoring what they said, Jesus told him, ‘Don’t be afraid; just believe.’” Mark 5:35-43
Today we talked about: Why prayer is so important and what keeps us from praying.
Pastor Aaron started the day off with a discussion on the power of prayer and how prayer is like planting for the future because prayers outlive the lives of those who utter them. He challenged, “If God answered every prayer you prayed last week, would the world look any different?”
Pastor Kevin talked about the big difference between fact and truth. When we doubt, it’s easier for the devil to lie and get us off track. We need to kick out the doubt and trust in the miracle that God has for us.
Day 4: WAKE UP AND WORSHIP
Theme verse of the day: Then Jesus explained: “My nourishment comes from doing the will of God, who sent me, and from finishing his work. You know the saying, ‘Four months between planting and harvest.’ But I say, wake up and look around. The fields are already ripe for harvest. The harvesters are paid good wages, and the fruit they harvest is people brought to eternal life. What joy awaits both the planter and the harvester alike! You know the saying, ‘One plants and another harvests.’ And it’s true. I sent you to harvest where you didn’t plant; others had already done the work, and now you will get to gather the harvest.” John 4:34-38
Today we talked about: Having a personal lifestyle of worship, and learning to define worship as more than just music.
Pastor Andy explained to the students that worship starts in our hearts and stretches to our hands. Worship is something we do with our lives- it’s the gift of God’s presence everyday.
All throughout this week we’ve seen our students responding to this call of AWAKENING. There are so many testimonies of faithful (above and beyond) serving, spontaneous prayer and worship, joyful attitudes and a spirit of love for the community of Belle Glade and each other. We talked about some of these stories in our recap videos, social media, and you can also check out the life mission blog at http://golifemissions.org/
We’re excited to see what God does with remaining time we have here in Belle Glade, as well as the awakening transformation we’ll see in the students lives long after we all head home! Please continue to lift up the group in prayer, and stay informed with what’s happening on @cfstudent twitter and instagram.
